His career spans over two decades, addressing public health challenges in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa through field epidemiology and policy evaluations.
Rasella’s research emphasizes methodologies for evaluating the effects of social determinants, conditional cash transfers, and primary healthcare systems using longitudinal big data and forecasting models. Key areas include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, child and maternal health, and the impact of socioeconomic policies on health outcomes. He leads large-scale health impact assessments across Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Mozambique, Gabon, Ethiopia, and Bolivia.
His articles analyze policy impacts on mortality, disease incidence, and health equity, with a focus on Brazil’s conditional cash transfer programs and primary healthcare expansions. Findings highlight the critical role of social protection and equitable healthcare access in reducing health disparities.
Rasella’s work bridges research and action, advocating for evidence-based policies to address global health challenges during economic crises and polycrisis scenarios. His projects often integrate advanced modeling techniques with real-world data to project future health trends and inform decision-making.
