Davide RODOGNO is a Professor of International History and Politics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. He holds the rank of Full Professor since 2014 and has served as Head of the International History & Politics Department (2014-2017) and currently leads the Interdisciplinary Programmes. His research focuses on the history of humanitarianism, international organizations, and colonialism. He is affiliated with institutions such as the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy and the Global Governance Centre.
Rodogno earned his PhD from the Graduate Institute of International Studies and the University of Geneva. His career includes roles as a Research Fellow at the London School of Economics, Academic Fellow at the University of St Andrews, and SNSF Research Professor. He has authored or edited over 20 books, including Night on Earth (2021) and Against Massacre (2011), and has published widely on humanitarianism's historical dynamics, international law, and colonial legacies.
His awards include grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, SNSF, and FNS. He leads projects like Rockefeller Fellows as Heralds of Globalization (2018-2022) and Minority Protection in Belgium, Italy, and Spain (2017-2020). Rodogno collaborates with institutions like the Red Cross Museum and co-founded the podcast Utopia3. His work bridges historical scholarship with contemporary policy, emphasizing critical analysis of humanitarianism's ethical dimensions.
