About
Davide Pisu is a Senior Lecturer in History and Theory at the University of Hertfordshire's School of Creative Arts, where he also serves as co-director of the ARCH+ research group. He is the co-founder of ArajStudio, an architectural practice based in Cagliari, Italy. His academic career spans from 2014 to the present, with significant research output in architectural theory, computational design, and Sardinian architectural history.
Dr. Pisu's research interests center around the relationship between design and morphology within normative frameworks. His recent work has increasingly focused on the intersection of Architecture and computation, particularly Architectural AIs. His research fingerprint reveals strong connections to Artificial Intelligence (80% keyphrase match), Sardinia (80%), Architecture (80%), Normativity (73%), and Computational Design (60%).
An analysis of his 29 research outputs from 2014-2025 shows an evolution from architectural history toward computational approaches. His early work focused on Sardinian architecture and historical analysis, while his recent publications increasingly explore AI applications in architecture and urban design. His most recent articles (2024-2025) demonstrate a strong commitment to real-world applications through summer schools and community engagement projects.
Dr. Pisu is currently leading or collaborating on two significant research projects: GMF24: Geraci Siculo: "Missione Futuro" (2024-2025), which appears to be a summer school initiative focused on village development, and POA24: PRISONERS OF ARCHITECTURE (2024), a design and fabrication workshop involving multiple researchers. These projects reflect his interest in transformative pedagogy and real-world architectural engagement.
His research group affiliation as co-director of ARCH+ positions him at the forefront of architectural research that bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications, particularly in the emerging field of architectural artificial intelligence.
