David van Bodegom is a Professor of Vitality in an Ageing Population at Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), Department of Public Health and Primary Care. He is also Theme Leader at the Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing. His research focuses on environmental influences on healthy aging, emphasizing nudging and peer-coaching strategies to foster long-term healthy behaviors. He transitioned from clinical practice to public health after observing the role of environment in preventing age-related diseases during his Ghanaian cohort studies.
