David Zuschin is an Associate Professor of Music at Radford University, where he has taught music history and theory at both undergraduate and graduate levels since 2001. A graduate of Kent State University (B.M., summa cum laude) and Yale University (M.M.), he earned his Ph.D. in Musicology/Ethnomusicology from Kent State. His academic career spans diverse experiences including directing the choral program at Brevard College (1993-1996) and studying abroad in Florence, Italy, and Southern France.
Dr. Zuschin's research focuses on music pedagogy and the integration of technology in music history education. He pioneered the creation of Opus X, Radford's digital recordings library, and has published/presented on interactive technology applications in music history teaching. His dissertation explored stylistic parallels between High Renaissance music and painting in Italy.
Professional affiliations include serving as current president of the Theta Mu chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society. His scholarly work combines historical analysis with digital innovation, while maintaining connections to interdisciplinary art-music studies.
