David Y. Hwang

David Y. Hwang, MD, FAAN, FCCM, FNCS is a Professor of Neurology and Division Chief for Neurocritical Care at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine. He serves as Co-PI for the Duke/UNC NINDS StrokeNet Regional Coordinating Center and is Associate Faculty at the Center for Bioethics. Dr. Hwang specializes in neurocritical care and neuropalliative care, focusing on clinical decision-making and family support in severe acute brain injury (SABI) scenarios.

Dr. Hwang has co-authored over 100 academic articles, including 40+ original research publications, and led multicenter trials in neurocritical care and vascular neurology. He is currently lead author for upcoming guidelines by the Neurocritical Care Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
