David Woods is a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science at the School of Sport, Ulster University, under the Faculty Of Life & Health Sciences. His research focuses on Psychological Well-Being, Parental Support, and Mental Health in sports contexts, particularly through Qualitative Studies and Focus Groups.
His recent work includes prison rehabilitation via sport-based interventions, psychological safety in competitive sports, and parental roles in youth golf. He has collaborated on international projects and organized the British Psychological Society Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology Conference in 2024.
He supervises PhD researchers like Michael Cooke and is part of the Sport and Exercise Sciences Research unit. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals such as Quality Education and Good Health.
