About
David W. Case is a Professor of Law and the Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada Lecturer in Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law. He teaches Property, Contracts, Environmental Law, and related subjects. Previously, he served at the University of Memphis School of Law (2001–2007) and as a Bridgestone Americas Fellow at Vanderbilt University (1998–2001). He holds a Ph.D. in Management (Vanderbilt), an LLM (Columbia), and JD/BA degrees from the University of Mississippi.

His research focuses on Mississippi real property law, environmental regulation, and administrative law. His scholarship appears in journals like the Duke Environmental Law & Policy Forum and Emory Law Journal.
Recognition: Recipient of the Ben A. Hardy Faculty Excellence Award and named one of Mississippi’s Leading Attorneys (2019). Coached NELMCC teams to five championships (2011–2016).
Service: Member of the Mississippi Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules since 2017, and the Chancellor’s Standing Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics since 2007. Served as a federal judicial clerk for Judges Rhesa Barksdale and James Sumner before entering academia.
Family & Affiliations: Married to Catherine Featherstone Case; their family has earned 12 degrees from Ole Miss. Life Member of the Alumni Association and part of the Lamar Order (Law Alumni Chapter).
