Professor David Veale is a Professor in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies at King's College London (KCL) and Consultant Psychiatrist at South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He holds academic affiliations with the Department of Psychology within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences.

Research Interests: His work focuses on psychological treatments for OCD, BDD, emetophobia, and depression. He also explores chronotherapy, nutrition’s impact on mental health, and single-case experimental design. He leads research on body image, including genital dysmorphic disorder and cosmetic surgery motivations.

Advising & Grants: Has authored 6 books and 18 chapters. He contributed to NICE guidelines for OCD/BDD (2006) and ICD-11 diagnostic criteria for OCD. He chairs the BDD Foundation and OCD Action, advocating for patient education and media engagement.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Research Centre for Anxiety Disorders & Trauma (CADAT) at KCL, a UK leader in anxiety research and clinical treatment.
