David Vallat

David Vallat is a Professor of Management Sciences at Sciences Po Lyon and Educational Director of the Public Factory. He is affiliated with the Magellan Research Lab (EA 3713) at iaelyon School of Management, Université Lyon 3. His research focuses on strategic management (risk/uncertainty, system thinking), knowledge management (organizational learning), epistemology (complex thought, constructivism), and collaborative spaces (fab labs, makerspaces). He co-leads the COPING project analyzing pandemic management in hospitals.

He holds an HDR (2017) from Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 titled 'Managing knowledge in a complex environment: ethical, epistemological and strategic questions.' Key research themes include complex systems, systemic decision modeling, and the intersection of ethics with organizational practices.

Major contributions address healthcare resilience during crises, the application of complex thought in management, and the role of collaborative spaces in distributed innovation. His work emphasizes adapting to VUCA environments through systemic approaches and epistemic community building.
