David Townsend

David Townsend is Professor at Heriot-Watt University's Institute of Photonics and Quantum Sciences, specializing in ultrafast laser techniques at the physics-chemistry interface.

Research investigates:

• Quantum control of molecular processes
• Electronic relaxation in biophysical systems
• Femtosecond laser applications

Collaborations include nanosecond laser photodissociation studies with chemistry department colleagues. Current ERC funding supports attosecond spectroscopy development.
