David Thompson is a Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen's University Belfast, with additional affiliations at universities in Hong Kong and Australia. He is recognized as a global leader in cardiovascular nursing and rehabilitation, contributing over 800 publications, including high-impact studies in The Lancet and BMJ. With an h-index of 94, he holds seven honorary/visiting professorships and has pioneered cardiovascular nursing research in the UK, Hong Kong, and Australia.
His research focuses on cardiac rehabilitation, chronic disease management, and patient-reported outcomes.
