David Swenson is an Associate Professor of Ceramics and Sculpture at North Dakota State University (NDSU), Department of Visual Arts. He teaches 3D art classes including ceramics, sculpture, design, and woodworking. His research focuses on Korean and Asian ceramics, wood-fired ceramics, functional ceramics, and woodworking. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of Minnesota and a B.F.A. from the Kansas City Art Institute. Swenson has participated in residencies, including at the International Ceramic Studio in Hungary. His work has been featured in national exhibitions and solo/group shows across the U.S., including the 2020 Human Rights Arts Festival and solo exhibitions at the North Dakota State Capital Building and Ecce Gallery. His art explores material form, space, and nature-inspired themes.
