David Soskice is a Professor of Political Science and Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE), serving as School Professor since 2012. Previously, he held roles such as Research Director of the LSE International Inequalities Institute (until 2020), Research Director at the Wissenschaftzentrum Berlin (1990–2005), and Research Professor at Duke University and Nuffield College, Oxford. His academic career began as an Economics Fellow at University College, Oxford (1967–1990).
His research focuses on comparative institutional analysis, macroeconomics, political economy, and economic policy. Notable collaborations include work with Wendy Carlin on macroeconomic models and Torben Iversen on advanced capitalist democracies. He has served as President of the European Political Science Association (2011–2014).
