David Smith

David Smith serves as Professor of Management at the Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. School of Business, having joined the institution in 2007. With over 30 years of teaching experience since 1994, he brings substantial expertise to his academic role.

His educational background includes:

• B.B.A. in Business Administration: Management from University of Alaska
• M.B.A. in Business Administration from Saint Martin's College
• D.B.A. in Business Administration (International Management) from Nova Southeastern University

Dr. Smith's research focuses on international business domains, specifically export performance and development, innovation and sustainability, and strategic management. His work bridges academic theory with practical applications in global markets.

He served as Interim Dean of the Rinker School of Business from January 2009 to June 2010, demonstrating academic leadership. Prior to his current position, he worked as a management consultant with government agencies including the Department of Commerce, Small Business Administration, and Foreign Agricultural Service, as well as with Fortune 500 companies on international market expansion and global operations optimization.

Dr. Smith has produced over 25 peer-reviewed publications, proceedings, and national conference presentations throughout his career, reflecting his active engagement in scholarly research.
