David Simmonds

David Simmonds is an Associate Professor in Coastal Engineering at the University of Plymouth's School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics. He supervises research on swash dynamics, beach morphodynamics, and coastal hazards, with PhD completions including projects on swash processes and beach profile variability.

His teaching includes foundational civil engineering, coastal engineering courses, and flood risk management. As part of the COAST Research Group and Marine Institute, his work addresses practical challenges in coastal zone management.
