David Shelley

David Shelley is an Adjunct Assistant Professor supervising education programs at Congaree National Park. His work coordinates undergraduate/graduate research in the largest intact old-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the southeastern U.S.

Education:

• Ph.D. Geology, University of South Carolina

Research focuses on Congaree/Wateree River watershed dynamics, examining how nutrient transport sustains floodplain ecosystems. Specializes in non-professional educator training and science communication.

Develops field-based curricula connecting fluvial geomorphology concepts to conservation applications. Maintains research collaborations through USC's School of Earth, Ocean and Environment.
