Dr. David Scahill is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Austrian Archaeological Institute (OeAW) Athens Branch, holding the rank of Research Fellow since 2021. He concurrently serves as Professor of Archaeology at the Athens Centre Study Abroad (since 2017) and previously held roles including Visiting Professor at Scuola Normale Superiore (2016), Adjunct Faculty at University of Athens (2018–2021), and Research Associate at Corinth Excavations (2004–2019).
Education: BA in Archaeology, Anthropology, and Classics (Indiana University); MA in Classical Archaeology (Florida State University); DPhil in Architectural History (University of Bath).
Research focuses on ancient urbanism, including Greek/Roman architectural typologies, Mediterranean urban planning (Prehistoric to Byzantine eras), and cultural heritage preservation. Current projects include the Aigeira Archaeological Survey Project examining urban development patterns.
