David Sauri-Pujol (born 1958 in Barcelona) is a Professor of Geography at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) since 2005, with prior roles as Associate Professor (1992-2005) and Assistant Professor (1988-1992). He is affiliated with UAB's Institute of Environmental Science and Technology and served as Director of the Centre for Environmental Studies (2000-2003).
His research spans water resources, urban geography, environmental hazards, and socioenvironmental change in Southern Europe. He has authored/co-authored over 150 publications in Catalan, Spanish, French, and English, focusing on themes like natural hazards, water management, cultural heritage in wetlands, and urban environmental impacts. His work has been funded by the European Union (projects ARCHEOMEDES II, FIRMA, HARMONICOP, MATISSE, ESPON-CLIMATE), Spanish CICYT, Catalan AGAUR, and foundations AGBAR and ABERTIS.
He teaches environmental topics at UAB, including Natural and Technological Hazards, Water Management, and Land Use Change, across Geography, Environmental Science, and Master's programs. He has consulted for the OECD and European Environment Agency.
