Dr. David Ranan is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Birkbeck Institute for the Study of Antisemitism, part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London. He holds a BA in Economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an MBA in Business Administration from Tel Aviv University, and a PhD from City University London. He is also a Fellow at the Zentrum für Antisemitismforschung at the Technische Universität Berlin.
His research focuses on antisemitism, diaspora communities, and institutional accountability. His upcoming book, Kirche, Schuld und Synodaler Weg, explores the Catholic Church’s capacity for institutional apology and responsibility. He is also investigating diaspora communities’ relationships with their 'home' countries, particularly issues related to Zionism, antisemitism, and identity dilemmas among Jewish populations.
Ranan’s publications include SprachGewalt (2021), analyzing language as political weapon, and works on Muslim antisemitism and Jewish youth identity in Germany. He has been affiliated with leading institutions in London, Berlin, and Israel, contributing to academic and policy discussions on memory, conflict, and intergroup dynamics.
