David Ramey

David Ramey is Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Pennsylvania State University. His research examines school disciplinary systems, police militarization, and the medicalization of childhood behavior.

Studies investigate racial disparities in school punishment, connections between ADHD diagnoses and delinquency, and equipment distribution through defense surplus programs. Longitudinal analyses track policy impacts on marginalized student populations.

Current projects include NSF-funded research on disability policy diffusion and DOJ-supported analysis of police equipment use during civil unrest. Methodological approaches combine quantitative modeling with institutional ethnography.
