David R. Wilson

Dr. David R. Wilson is a Professor in Orthopaedics and Associate Member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Applied Science. He holds a B.Eng. from McGill University and a D.Phil. in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, with fellowships at Johns Hopkins and Harvard.

• Causes and treatments of osteoarthritis
• Medical imaging and image processing
• Orthopaedic sports medicine
• Biomechanics of joint degeneration and surgical interventions

• Evaluating mechanical changes from high tibial osteotomy using synchrotron imaging
• Developing open MRI techniques for femoroacetabular impingement visualization
• Creating navigated systems for bone deformity resection
• Investigating links between bone architecture and cartilage degeneration

Collaborations: His Wilson Biomechanics Lab unites engineers, surgeons, radiologists, and computer scientists to advance musculoskeletal research through interdisciplinary innovation.
