David R. Friedland

David R. Friedland, MD, PhD, is a Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He also serves as Director of Clinical AI Applications and Clinical Research Support at the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute (SC CTSI). His research focuses on leveraging AI and big data to improve diagnostics for ear, nose, and throat disorders, including vestibular disorders and cardiovascular-hearing loss correlations. He has led efforts to streamline clinical trials, enhance academic-industry partnerships, and address healthcare disparities through AI-driven solutions.

Dr. Friedland’s academic journey includes an MD from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, residency at Mount Sinai, and fellowship at Johns Hopkins. His administrative roles include former Division Chief of Otology and Neurotology at Medical College of Wisconsin. He actively promotes clinical trials workforce development and technology adoption in healthcare operations.
