David Quigley is a Professor and currently serves as Provost and Dean of Faculties at Boston College since 2014. He holds a Ph.D. from New York University and a B.A. from Amherst College. His research focuses on 19th-century U.S. history, urban history, and the Civil War era, particularly exploring race and democracy in New York's political cultures.
Quigley has led significant academic initiatives, including interdisciplinary programs in environmental studies and Islamic civilization, and played a key role in designing Stokes Hall, a hub for humanities at BC. He was honored with the University-wide Distinguished Teaching Award in 2007. His administrative leadership includes deanship of the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, emphasizing faculty recruitment and core curriculum reforms.
