Dr David Price is a Lecturer in Genetics at the School of Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Health at the University of Plymouth. He holds multiple strategic roles including Locality Theme Lead for Special Study Units in Biomedical Sciences (Peninsula Schools of Medicine & Dentistry), School Academic Liaison Coordinator for the Academic Partnerships network, and School Project Liaison with National Marine Aquarium and Paignton Zoo Environmental Park. He also serves on the Faculty of Science and Engineering Research Ethics and Integrity Committee.

His research spans medical genetics, genetic continuity and diversity, gene therapy, and molecular biology with emphasis on genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics. He investigates critical intersections between diet, exercise and chronic disease while addressing contemporary issues in human health and disease mechanisms. His work directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through biomedical innovation.
Dr Price has supervised 3 PhD students, 2 MPhil students and multiple MSc candidates. His extensive teaching portfolio includes Medical Genetics (BHCS3009), Genetic Continuity and Diversity (BHCS2003), Human Disease (BHCS1005), and Molecular Biology: Genomics, Transcriptomics and Proteomics (BIOM5001) across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Through active partnerships with National Marine Aquarium and Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, he develops applied research frameworks connecting biomedical science with environmental conservation genetics, creating unique translational pathways for real-world health solutions.
