David Perkes

David Perkes is a Professor at Mississippi State University and founding director of the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio, an outreach program of the College of Architecture, Art and Design. He leads post-disaster recovery initiatives and community design projects along the Gulf Coast.

His work focuses on:

• Post-disaster community rebuilding
• Sustainable housing solutions
• Public interest architecture
• Coastal resilience planning
• Community-engaged design

His design for a sustainable Habitat for Humanity house was featured on the AIA Design Advisor, and he received the prestigious Loeb Fellowship from Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2004.
