Dr. David Pelcovitz is the Gwendolyn & Joseph Straus Chair in Psychology and Jewish Education at Yeshiva University's Azrieli Graduate School. He concurrently serves as Special Assistant to the President, instructor in pastoral counseling at RIETS, and former Clinical Professor of Psychology at NYU School of Medicine.
Education: BA (Brooklyn College), MS (Brooklyn College), PhD (University of Pennsylvania).
Research Focus: Specializes in child/adolescent mental health, trauma recovery, family violence dynamics, and Jewish educational ethics. Key projects include PTSD in adolescents, abuse prevention, and holocaust education methodologies. His recent publications address parenting strategies from a Jewish perspective and child abuse within Jewish communities.
Professional Contributions: 20+ years as Director of Psychology at North Shore University Hospital, extensive community consultations across North America and Israel, and leadership in developing trauma-informed care programs.
