Dr. David Patrick is a Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) School of Population & Public Health and leads antimicrobial resistance initiatives at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). He has been with BCCDC since 1991, focusing on clinical epidemiology of HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and emerging diseases like COVID-19. His academic leadership includes directing the UBC School of Population & Public Health (2011–2016) and developing graduate courses such as Control of Communicable Diseases and Canada’s first tropical medicine course in western Canada.
Research Interests: Dr. Patrick’s work spans antimicrobial stewardship (projects: Do Bugs Need Drugs?, Antibioticwise), vaccine impact on population health, and zoonotic disease dynamics. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles, though specific titles are not listed here.
