Dr. David Parker is an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist (Water Engineering) in the College of Engineering at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU). He holds a 50% appointment with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, focusing on water-related education and outreach in the Texas Panhandle. With a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from New Mexico State University (1985), an M.S. from the University of Wyoming (1987), and a Ph.D. in Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska (1996), Dr. Parker has over 35 years of experience in academia, USDA research, and private industry.
His research emphasizes soil and water conservation, greenhouse gas mitigation in cattle systems, and manure management. Notable areas include ammonia emission control, nitrification inhibitor formulations, and IoT-based soil monitoring. Collaborations span Africa, Australia, and the Americas, yielding over 300 publications. Dr. Parker is a licensed Professional Engineer in seven U.S. states and has contributed to ASTM standard development for environmental odor assessment.
