David P. Silverman is the Eckley Brinton Coxe, Jr. Professor of Egyptology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Arts & Sciences and Curator of the Egyptian Section at the Penn Museum. A leading authority on ancient Egypt, he served as national curator and academic content creator for the "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs" exhibition. His research encompasses Egyptian language, art, and religion, supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Penn Research Foundation, and Michela Schiff-Giorgini Foundation. He received the Athenaeum Society of Philadelphia Literary Award for his books and has been a visiting professor at L'École Pratique (Sorbonne) and Harvard University.
Research Focus: Egyptian archaeology, religious practices, linguistic analysis, and artifact conservation.
