David Nelson is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Sunderland, where he has served since 1999. His research focuses on databases, Big Data, and NoSQL systems, alongside pedagogical innovations in database education. He leads multiple MSc programs including Computing, Data Science, and Cybersecurity, and oversees Master's projects across Computing and Engineering. His work includes collaborations with North East companies via Knowledge Transfer projects, rated outstanding.
