David Muller is the Samuel B. Eckert Professor of Engineering in the School of Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University and co-director of the Kavli Institute for Nanoscale Science. His research focuses on atomic-scale characterization of materials for energy applications and developing advanced electron microscopy techniques.
Research interests include:
- Condensed matter physics and quantum materials
- Electron microscopy and ptychography
- Nanoscale characterization of energy systems
- Two-dimensional materials and complex oxides
His publications demonstrate cutting-edge developments in electron microscopy resolution and applications to superconductors, fuel cells, and quantum materials. Recent work has achieved atomic-resolution limits set by lattice vibrations.
