David Malec

David Malec is currently a Researcher at the University of Maryland, affiliated with the Department of Computer Science. He earned his PhD in Computer Sciences from UW-Madison, where his thesis focused on approximations in Bayesian mechanism design for multi-parameter settings under the advisement of Prof. Shuchi Chawla. His research lies at the intersection of algorithmic game theory and approximation algorithms, with applications to mechanism design, scheduling, and social network influence.

David has taught CMSC 451: Design and Analysis of Algorithms at the University of Maryland during Spring 2014. His publications span conferences like WWW, STOC, EC, and journals such as Games and Economic Behavior (GEB), focusing on game-theoretic approaches to algorithm design, Bayesian optimization, and incentive mechanisms.
