David MacPhee

David MacPhee is an Associate Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University, where he leads research in computational continuum mechanics, thermodynamics, and energy conversion. His Applied Computational Engineering (ACE) Lab focuses on renewable energy systems, including wind/wave energy converters, wastewater aeration, and additive manufacturing.

Research areas include flexible-bladed wind turbines, aerator optimization for wastewater treatment, industrial energy productivity, computational fluid dynamics, and thermal energy storage. He employs advanced experimental and computational methods to enhance energy efficiency and system performance.

Dr. MacPhee mentors graduate and undergraduate students, facilitating research in energy innovation. Awards and honors include multiple NIH/NIDCD grants for pediatric speech/language studies related to cochlear implants.
