David M. Robinson is a Professor of History and Asian Studies at Colgate University and a scholar affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin. His research focuses on violence, court culture, foreign relations, historical memory, and military history in early modern Eurasia, with a particular emphasis on the Mongol Empire and Ming Dynasty. At MPIWG's Department III, he explores a Mongolian family’s integration into Ming China (1400–1644) to analyze themes of ability and difference in military contexts.
