David Liu is an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto (St. George campus). He currently serves as the department's Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies. His professional activities include co-leading the Embedded Ethics Education Initiative (E3I) within the department.
He holds a BMath from the University of Waterloo and an MSc from the University of Toronto's Computer Science Theory Group, advised by Toni Pitassi and Stephen Cook. Notable recognitions include the 2017-2018 Early Career Teaching Award and the 2024 Northrop Frye Award (Team).
He contributes to open-source education tools like PythonTA and Markus, and has developed the memory-viz library for teaching memory models. His GitHub profile shows active contributions to academic software projects.
