Dr David Linton is appointed as Head of Acting & Programme Leader at Guildhall School’s Drama Department, effective July 2022. Previously, he served as Course Leader and Senior Lecturer in Drama at Kingston University London. With over 25 years of experience as a professional actor and educator, Linton specializes in theatre research focusing on participatory arts, Black British performance, and pre-modern performance practices. His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches, as seen in his role with Prussia Lane production company and contributions to the Musical Theatre and All That Jazz network. He advocates for inclusivity, creative learning, and equality through Equity’s equalities committee membership. Linton’s research monograph Nation and Race in West End Revue 1910-1930 (2021) explores historical intersections of race and performance.
At Guildhall School, he leads the restructured BA (Hons) Acting programme, emphasizing sustainable career development through modules like Screen Practice (VR/digital platforms), Self-Led Practice, and Reflective Practice. This curriculum prioritizes inclusivity, wellbeing, and industry innovation. His leadership aligns with Guildhall’s vision for rigorous craft training combined with progressive pedagogy.
