Professor David Lewis is Director of the Western Sydney Sexual Health Centre and Conjoint Professor at the Sydney Medical School - Westmead, University of Sydney. He trained in medicine at Oxford and University of London, holds an MSc and PhD in Clinical Tropical Medicine (Imperial College London/University of Texas), and has 30+ years of experience in STI/HIV clinical, microbiological, and public health research across the UK, South Africa, and Australia.

Research Interests: Focus on antimicrobial resistance in gonorrhoea, STI/HIV surveillance in resource-poor settings, genital ulcer diseases, and outreach sexual health services. His work spans epidemiological modelling of STI transmission, vaccine efficacy trials (4CMenB against N. gonorrhoeae), and molecular resistance assays for optimizing STI treatments in Indigenous populations.
Publications: 15 recent articles (2025-2021) cover topics from gepotidacin for gonorrhoea to renal risks in PrEP users, with recurring themes in MSM health, STI diagnostics, and global AMR monitoring.
