David Kozel, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University Northwest (PNW). He holds a Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. His research focuses on power electronics, particularly in electric vehicles and renewable energy systems, alongside projects in digital signal processing and microcontroller applications. Dr. Kozel has mentored student groups in robotic hand development, solar/wind energy systems, and LED lighting solutions.
He received the Outstanding Teacher Award at PNW twice (2009-2010 and 1992-1993) and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana. His teaching portfolio includes courses on Power Electronics, Signals and Systems, Probabilistic Methods, and Linear Circuit Analysis. Previously, he served as the Department Head of PNW’s Electrical and Computer Engineering program from 2016 to 2018.
His work spans interdisciplinary projects combining energy systems and embedded technologies, with a strong emphasis on student-centered learning and mentorship.
