Mr David King is Head of Digital Design at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), University of Sheffield, and Co-director of the INSIGNEO Institute's smart devices and sensors theme. With over 20 years in product design R&D, he holds Electronics, Computer Science, and MBA qualifications. His leadership established the AMRC Digital Design Lab, delivering high-TRL research in Healthcare, Aerospace, and Automotive sectors. He co-developed the Digital Operating Theatre platform, integrating Industry 4.0 technologies for digital healthcare collaboration. His research focuses on hyperspectral imaging applications in circular economy and healthcare, alongside digital design methodologies and telepresence robotics.
