David Jones is the Head of Accompaniment and a Lecturer in Piano at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). He holds roles as Staff Pianist Co-ordinator, Junior RNCM Tutor, and academic supervisor. His career spans over 25 years, including a PhD on Jeffrey Lewis's music (2011) and extensive editorial work for Cathedral Press. He specializes in 19th-20th century French and British music, with a focus on accompaniment, mélodie, and opera coaching.
Education: BMus (First Class Honours, University of Wales, Bangor), PGDip and MusM (RNCM). Research interests include music archiving, collaborative performance practices, and the works of overlooked composers like Jeffrey Lewis and Robin Stevens. He supervises PhD students on topics such as Arnold Cooke, Louise Farrenc, and Gabriel Pierné.
