David J. Weber, MD, MPH is the Charles Addison and Elizabeth Ann Sanders Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at UNC School of Medicine, with joint appointments in Epidemiology at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. He serves as Associate Chief Medical Officer at UNC Medical Center and Medical Director of the Department of Infection Prevention. Dr. Weber is also a member of UNC's Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases.

Research Focus: Dr. Weber's 35+ year career centers on healthcare-associated infection prevention, emerging pathogens (COVID-19, biothreats, Candida auris), vaccine implementation (Tdap, influenza, hepatitis B), antibiotic stewardship, and disinfection protocols. He leads UNC's CDC-supported Duke-UNC Epicenter grant and advises WHO on pandemic response.
Leadership: Directs UNC's 20-person infection prevention team and NC State Program on Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE). Chairs NC Tuberculosis Advisory Committee and serves on SHEA Board. Has published 450+ peer-reviewed papers on infectious disease epidemiology.
