David J. Houston is Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a PhD from Binghamton University. A core MPA faculty member since 1991, he teaches public administration theory, policy analysis, and research methods.
His research examines public service motivation and traffic safety policy, including evaluations of seat belt laws and drunk driving legislation. Publications appear in leading journals including Public Administration Review and Accident Analysis and Prevention.
Recent publications analyze religiosity in public sector motivation and cross-national trust in civil servants. Awards include:
