David Hopkins

David A. Hopkins is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Boston College, affiliated with the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. He joined the department in 2010. His research focuses on American political parties, elections, Congress, voting behavior, public opinion, political geography, and research methods.

Education: M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Key contributions include co-authored books such as Polarized by Degrees (2024), which examines educational attainment’s role in political polarization, and Asymmetric Politics (2016), which won the 2018 Leon Epstein Outstanding Book Award.
