David Hollingshead

Dr. David Hollingshead is an Assistant Professor of English at MacEwan University, holding a PhD from Brown University. Prior to this role, he taught at Princeton University, Harvard University, and Emerson College. His research explores transatlantic and hemispheric US literature and culture, with a focus on intersections between race, gender, colonialism, and the natural sciences. His current book project examines the reductionist poetics of US naturalist fiction.

Dr. Hollingshead's work interrogates how texts engage with knowledge systems and power structures, employing interdisciplinary approaches that blend historical, formal, and scientific analysis. He actively mentors students in connecting close textual analysis to broader theoretical frameworks.

His scholarly awards include the First Book Institute Grant (2020) and Brown University's Graduate Prize for Best Essay (2016).
