Dr. David Hoekman is an Associate Professor of Biology at Olivet Nazarene University and teaches the Insect Ecology course at Au Sable Institute's Great Lakes Campus. He holds a B.S. in Biology and Archaeology from Wheaton College and a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Notre Dame.
His research examines arthropod food webs in aquatic and terrestrial systems. Teaching expertise includes field-based courses such as:

- Ornithology
- General Ecology
- Tropical Field Research (Costa Rica)
