David Hirsh is Associate Professor in TESOL at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. His research examines second language vocabulary acquisition, academic adaptation of international students, and language revitalization initiatives.
Current projects investigate multilingual education frameworks in Asia-Pacific and sociolinguistic factors affecting Chinese students' classroom participation. Collaborations include work with Mahidol University (Thailand) on language documentation and Kyushu University (Japan) on infant speech development.
