David Hansen is the John L. & Sue Ann Weinberg Professor in Historical & Philosophical Foundations of Education and Director of the Philosophy and Education Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. His work bridges philosophy, ethics, and educational practice, emphasizing cosmopolitanism, moral inquiry, and teacher development. He holds a BA from the University of Chicago, MA from Stanford, and PhD from the University of Chicago.
Research focuses on philosophical foundations of education, including Deweyan pragmatism, Montaigne’s educational thought, and the ethical dimensions of teaching.
