David Grottschreiber

David Grottschreiber is a Lecturer and Study Coordinator for Pre-College Jazz at the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU). Born in 1982 near Hamburg, he studied jazz trombone in Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Lucerne, alongside composition in Lucerne. He has been a member of regional and national youth jazz orchestras in Germany and collaborated with renowned artists like Ohad Talmor and Nils Wogram. He leads the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra and has contributed to numerous CDs as a composer, arranger, and performer.

His research interests focus on jazz performance, composition, and ensemble leadership, with a strong emphasis on bridging traditional and contemporary jazz practices. He actively engages in international collaborations and has received the Luzerner Werkbeitrag 2008 and awards from global composition competitions.

As an educator, he teaches non-degree courses in Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Theory. His professional activities include ensemble direction, composition, and performance with groups like the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra.
