David Getsy

David Getsy is Visiting Professor at Freie Universität Berlin's John F. Kennedy Institute, where he teaches courses on queer art history and transgender studies in American art. His research examines twentieth-century American art through frameworks of gender, sexuality, and embodiment.

At the Kennedy Institute, he offered graduate and undergraduate courses exploring queer visual culture from the 1950s-1990s and methodological intersections between art history and transgender studies. His work emphasizes nonbinary approaches to historical narratives and the recovery of marginalized perspectives in art history.
